Position/ Description

Time Involved

Nominating Committee:

  • Seek out candidates for elected chapter leader positions (President-Elect, Treasurer, V.P. Programs, V.P. Arrangements, Secretary, Nominating Committee)
  • Help create the slate of candidates for the yearly election
  • Must be a good judge of character
  • Have been with the chapter for at least two years, and have been at most of the meetings/events
About 1-2 hours/ month (usually at meetings) during the time span of November through May.
Write a newsletter article 2-3 hours
Write newsletter book reviews Varies

Help new members:

  • Send out new member packets via USPS to new or returning members.
  • Greet new members at meetings

 

  • 1-2 hours

  • varies, requires attendance at meetings

Set up new member orientation, a social before 2 meetings during year

1-2 hours total (in the Fall and in the Spring)
Create membership directory in June 4-6 hours total

Update Members Database

  • Must have Access experience

Organize an educational seminar:
Any one of these tasks:
  • Find an instructor
  • Set up a meeting place
  • Help with registration and/or check in
  • Help with meal planning
  • Publicity

Solicit local companies to sponsor student meeting fees Varies
Join the College Connection
Any one of these tasks:
  • Contact a college to see about participating in career fair
  • With other volunteers staff a table at a career fair
  • Speak as part of a panel at a class presentation
  • Create and maintain a database that records presentations given (dates, topics, circumstances, names of presenters, etc) and other contacts made
  • Gather any publicity about these events that specifically mentions EB STC

Opportunity Junction (www.opportunityjunction.org) helps low-income Contra Costa residents gain the competence and confidence to support themselves and their families.

It is looking for a volunteer technical writer to help them document their "best practices" in the hope of expanding to other locations and/or partnering with existing similar non-profit organizations to utilize their successful program.
